12 mm Blade
Bjaf 12 mm Blade 🐶✂️
The one that keeps the fluff – real length, tidied rather than taken off.
Not every dog should be clipped short, and not every owner wants it. 12 mm is the longest blade in the range, and it is made for the dogs whose coat is the whole point. It evens out the shape, lifts off the excess and leaves a genuinely fluffy finish that still looks like your dog. ☁️
A long comb attachment will fight you at this length – it packs with hair and skips across the coat. A 12 mm blade simply glides, and the result is smooth all the way round.
Is 12 mm right for your dog? 🤔
Pick 12 mm when the goal is a tidy-up, not a haircut.
- Fluffy, full-coated dogs you want to keep fluffy ☁️
- Winter coats that need shaping without losing their warmth 🧣
- Evening out a coat that has grown unevenly, before it turns into mats
- Dogs who are new to clipping and are happier with a gentle first trim
- Anyone who has ever regretted going too short and would rather build down slowly 😅
One honest note: the longer the length, the more the coat has to be brushed and knot-free before you start. Do that groundwork and 12 mm gives you the softest finish of the four. 🐾
Why a longer blade beats comb attachments ✂️
Instead of clipping with a plastic comb attachment, you clip directly with a blade that cuts at 12 mm. It is more precise, it glides better through the coat, and it gives an even result every single time.
- More precise clipping – a longer blade gives a consistent finish, where comb attachments often hop across the coat and leave uneven lengths.
- Faster clipping – it takes markedly less time, because the blade takes more coat at once.
- Less resistance – the blade slides easily through even dense, curly coat, which reduces pulling on the skin.
- More safety – comb attachments can slip, which leads to nicks and uneven patches. With a fixed blade you stay in control.
- A professional finish – longer blades are what professional groomers reach for. Also at home, also as a beginner. 🏡
Fits your Bjaf Dog Clipper Pro™ 🔧
- Cutting length: 12 mm
- Compatible with the Bjaf Dog Clipper Pro™
- Part of the Bjaf blade range: 3 mm, 6 mm, 9 mm and 12 mm
- Clipper oil is sold separately and we always recommend keeping the blade well oiled 💧
Important to know! The comb attachments included with the clipper only fit the 1.5 mm blade that came with it. They cannot be used together with the longer blades. 🙌
How to fit it 🐾
- Switch the clipper off before you touch the blade. Always. 🔌
- Release the blade that is on the clipper and lift it away from the head.
- Seat the 12 mm blade on the clipper head and press gently until it sits firmly and straight.
- Add a drop or two of clipper oil along the teeth, run the clipper for a few seconds, and wipe off what is left.
- Brush the coat through before you start, and let the blade lie flat against the body as you work with the lay of the coat.
Care and oiling 💧
- Brush the loose hair out of the teeth after every session.
- Oil the blade before you start, and again during longer grooms.
- Let the blade cool if it gets warm, and check the temperature against your own wrist now and then.
- Store it dry, clean and somewhere it cannot knock against other metal.
